Fermented veggies are becoming all the rage. That's funny since fermentation is one of the oldest, tastiest and most fun ways to preserve food. Do it yourself with easy ingredients for a fraction of the cost of buying it at the store. In this hands-on class you'll learn how to slice, salt, and stomp your way into your own fermented creations like sauerkraut, kimchi, and more. Come on y'all, even babies love this stuff! Please bring a large bowl, cutting board, grater, knives and a quart jar. Mary Margaret Ripley and her family like to have fermented foods as a part of their everyday lives. Since 2006 she has fermented many kinds of foods, especially veggies from her family farm. Join her for a busy, fun, and friendly class that just might get you hooked, too!

with Walter Boomsma

Calendar Sep 11, 2018 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

This fun one-day program is designed to prepare people interested in serving as a substitute teacher or ed tech. There will be plenty of “hands-on learning” that will include important classroom management techniques and teaching strategies. We’ll also cover some legal aspects and help you develop your own “sub pack” of resources and an action plan that will get you started on the right foot! If you’ve been subbing, this is a great opportunity for a “refresher” and some new ideas. Attendees will earn a certificate recognized by many local districts. One student comments, “…very engaging with a lot of real-life scenarios. I came away with new information even after subbing for a year.” The program is taught by Walter Boomsma, an experienced substitute teacher and adult educator.
