Potential topics include investments, personal budget, self employment and the issues that brings, credit cards, and interest rates. The course is designed to meet student needs and interests. This roundtable will be led by Parker Reardon. Reardon has a degree in business and finances. His years of work in this area has helped him become quite experienced in many financial topics that could benefit you, the consumer. His goal is to share knowledge with you, ease any money concerns, and avoid some of the pit falls out there. Being a knowledgeable financial consumer saves money.

Penobscot Bay Sail & Power Squadron Offers “America’s Boating Course”

The basic four-evening (8 hour + exam) course is designed to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of safe boating and to qualify for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft. Coverage includes safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, and knots and lines. The information is useful for users of all sorts of watercraft (power, sail, paddle) and for both ocean and freshwater boating. This course includes an examination. An optional Part II course extension (2 weeks, four hours) introduces students to navigation and the use of charts - important information on determining where you are and how to go where you wish to go safely. Part II requires not homework or exam. The cost of the course is $15 plus $26 for the student manual (which may be shared). Students who wish to continue through Part II may wish to purchase a course plotter for $7.50 and dividers for $15 although these are not required.

While designed for beginners, this class is also appropriate for those who have used the software but would like to know more about it. You will walk away from the class with a DVD full of videos each of the tools within Photoshop.
